DessertTruck Works

DessertTruck Works
6 Clinton Street
New York, NY 10002

Dessert Truck was my haven when I worked in midtown Manhattan. Every Friday, the truck was there when I needed my sweet fix. My co-workers always teased me when I come back to my desk with my treats. I was sadden when I found out that Dessert Truck lost their permit.

A year later, the owner of Dessert Truck opened a place in Lower East Side. The menu didn't change; however, the prices did. A vanilla creme brulee used to be $5, now it is $6. The cafe is easy to miss, if you pass by it. The white etching of DT is printed on the glass door. Once you walk in, the smell of fresh coffee hits your nose. The menu is listed on a blackboard on the wall. The place has a few small coffee tables with a long bench and some round chairs. The long bench has these cushions tied on by two belt straps.

Now, the desserts.... omg....heaven! I ordered the warm chocolate bread pudding with vanilla custard sauce. I really like the contrast between hot and cold in my mouth. The chocolate bread pudding was moist and sweet. The vanilla custard sauce was milky and yummy. My friend had the warm brioche donut holes with nutella filling. She gave me a bite. It reminds me of japanese verison of zeppole. It was crispy yet not oily. It was covered with granulated sugar. When you bite into it, the warm nutella oozed out of it. It is unbelievable that 3 little donut holes are quite filling.
My prediction is that I will be going there again and again. It's a great place to meet a friend for coffee.
